The boys dr. apointments and Luke's BIG NEWS!

Yesterday Luke and Josh went to the doctors for their 3year and 6 month check ups. We will start with Josh first.

Josh-
Height 28 1/2" -95%
Weight 21.7 - 95%
H/C 44cm-90%

Everything is looking great for Josh. Dr. D said that his top and bottom gums are swollen so he is indeed teething (now if only a tooth would pop through). Dr. D also said that Josh rolling over on X-mas day does count as rolling over and that he just doesn’t want to do it because he is such a laid back baby. I was also told that we can start giving him cheeses like small curd cottage cheese (humm wonder if he is going to like that Luke HATED it). Other than that Josh is doing awesome, some small skin irritation on the back of his legs due to the cold so I just have to start putting some meds that they gave me on it each night, but all and all he is a great healthy laid back little guy. :)

Luke-
Height 38 3/4 - 73%
Weight 44lbs - 99%
BMI 20.6 - In the normal range still
HC -They took it but didn't give it to me, I'm not worried though he doesn’t have a big noggin. :)

O.k. so here is what we were told with Luke. Keep up the potty training, yes we are potty training per Luke's request (I wasn't ready to start until 1/30). Dr. D gave me tips on the #2 business and how to help with that but to let him know that he is still in control. Then the biggest news at the doctor’s office was that he is overweight. :( (cry cry sob sob) I'm trying to take this with a grain of salt. I know that he doesn’t eat sweets (though this is only in the past month or so that it's really changed) and he doesn’t get junk food. We were told to start counting his calories and that he should only be getting about 1,000 a day. Well today is the 1st day of me just writing down and seeing what exactly he gets so we will see just how many he is getting. I think the biggest thing to Luke's weight is 1. Its winter time and we are cooped up in the house. 2. Portion sizes of the foods that we do eat. (I'm already on top of the portion sizes.. that was a BIG eye opener for me). Dr. D didn't seem to be too worried about Luke's weight but I want it nipped in the butt. Other than that Luke is doing awesome as well. His speech is really clear and he is everywhere that he needs to be for a 3 year old.

The BIG news for yesterday was LUKE WENT ACCIDENT FREE THE WHOLE DAY! YIPEEEE I tell ya I was sooo proud of him yesterday that I wanted to go outside last night and just shout it out loud and let everyone know how big my boy is getting. LOL. We are on track to have another accident free day today. It's really weird how they just decide one day to start potty training, but I'll be super excited when it's all over, for now though I just take it in and think of it as my little boy is growing up and I'll try to remember as much of the baby in him that I can.

Luke's 3rd birthday

Well Luke is officially 3 now. We have a very busy day on the 15th. It started with Luke helping me decorate a cake into a fire truck then a trip to the fire station to meet fireman Craig & Andy, explore the fire house and of course to see the fire trucks. We then headed out to daddy's office to enjoy lunch with him, came home for a nap then met up with dad again to enjoy some pizza and games at Chuck-e-cheese (which we had never been to before but Luke LOVEDDDD it)! We then came home Luke opened presents and had cake and ice cream. It was an EXTREMLY busy day and one that if we had to do over again the only thing that we would change is to go out to dinner and entertainment on a weekend. By the time Luke got to bed it was around 9:30 and he was a cranky one. :( Luke was well loved and received lots of goodies including his 1st computer, suitcase, soccer ball/net set, bingo, learn to tell time clock, view finder, hot wheels track and much much more, though this is still just the beginning there is a birthday party for Luke to enjoy playing with all of his friends on the 24th.

Luke & swimming lessons

Well today was Luke's 1st day of swimming lessons and he did surprisingly well. There were only 3 other kids in his class which made it nice for the one on one. The instructor started off by teaching the kids to sit down on the ledge turn around and get in the water by lowering themselves and Luke did great with that, he actually did great with everything (juming off the side, kicking with the kickboard, and paddling with dad holding him) There were only two things that needed to be worked on 1. jumping off the ledge (I think that's more of dad then Luke though, dad dunked his head under the water and Luke wasn't ready for that). 2. Blowing bubbles in the water, he starts to blow then lifts his head up. Anyway, needless to say Luke had a great time and 30 min. was surely not enough time for him to play.


Hope you all have a great weekend. We are getting things together for a birthday party and for potty training (which Luke seems to be excited to start). We have the sticker charts, the stickers, potties are in place and ready to be used on a regular basis. All we are waiting for are our Potty Scotty underpants to come in.. heheh ask me when we talk next and I'll tell you about Potty Scotty underpants. I just chuckle saing it. Potty Scotty, I guess it wouldn't be so funny if DH name wasn't Scott.

Yesterday was a sad day.

God rest her sole it was time for Grandma Colby to go to heaven and be with God. She was a wonderful person and even though I only knew her for a short time she always had a smile on her face and just loved being around her grandkids and great grandkids. I'm glad we were able to see her over Christmas and spend some time with her in what is now seen as her last few days. She will be missed!

We love you Grandma Colby and know that you are in a better place. You won't be forgotten.

A new year!

Well it's 2009! Can you believe it already. We had a great holiday season both at Mom and Dad Colby's house and at our house.The boys (especially Luke) got everything that they wanted. It was funny Luke opened his stocking and looked at Gigi and I and said "Where's my boat" (all he asked Santa for was a boat for his bath tub). So he then opens his gifts and first opened a tool box and is VERY excited about it, then goes to open the next package see's that its a boat tosses it aside and continues to play with the tools.. LOL. I tell ya, what a goof ball he is!

Anyway, we brought in the new year at home the boys were sleeping and Scott and I staied up drinking grasshoppers and wine and playing Wii, we watched the ball drop on TV then headed to bed just in time for our neighbors to start letting of fireworks and thank goodness Josh slept through them but Luke was up until about 1 or so.

Josh is growing like a weed and loves to sit up, talk, laugh and do what we call the airplane while on tummy time, though we are still waiting for him to roll over or crawl. I'm sure that he will do it in his own time. :)

This month is filled with lots of fun for us. Luke will be 3 next week and completely understands the gist of presents and birthday party so needless to say he's very excited about all that is about to happen and wants everyone to know, even the UPS workers that come by with packages. :) Then on Saturday Luke will start swimming lessons which will be a first but still lots of fun for he and his dad.
